Bringing it Home for 5-7s
For some odd reason, our schooling revolves a lot around creepy, crawly critters. Colden is enthralled with all the big stuff and Dylan is fascinated with all the little stuff. So between the two of them, we learn a lot about the animal and anthropod kingdoms. Here are a few resources we've found that we go back to over and over and over and over again. I wanted to share them with you so you can continue studying these topics with your 5-7s.
Favorite animal websites for studying about animals:
Animals: A to Z

Reptiles of Arizona (includes amphibians and habitats, too)

One year we purchased a subscription. I also subscribed to the email and often get freebies in my email or her pdf packets for $.99. She's quite thorough and the kids enjoyed doing the interactive lessons. Now they enjoy reading through her pdfs. I'm attaching a sample freebie from her that's related to this month's unit.
Last year I bought some butterfly larvae online so the kids could watch the life cycle of a butterfly. Here is the link if you wish to do that with your kids:

The Nature show on PBS:

What resources do you have about our amazing planet? I'm sure my kids would love to see what your kids have studied!
Thanks,
Angie Patterson
